    FOmarl is enjoying life!

    Little Sister got 96% for Grade 5 theory! I'm so proud of her! She's been an excellent pupil. Too bad I did rubbishly in my viva in my piano exam. TT_TT

    Month of freedom is great! I am competing in a Schthack server custom event (Spring Cleaning) in a team with three HUcaseals. Good luck to us!

    I'm going on holiday from 8th August for 17 days with the love of my life (not as a HUcaseal. Maybe FOmar (L))! Can't wait!

    Then I'm at my parents place to rot for an eon. :( At least I'll have little sister and my piano. :)

    Then I'm going to University. Starts final week of September. Can't wait! Friend says she'll kick me if she catches me slacking off, so I better not! I must find something interesting in anything I do!

    My Summer 2008

    Why don't the 'blog entries show the year? Someone who's figured it out please tell me how! ...

    1. Month of freedom: 6 Jul - 2 Aug with an evil piano exam on 16th July. AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA...
    2. Month of perfect life: 8 Aug - 24 Aug.
    3. Month of revision/preparation for uni and recovery from month of perfect life. >_<
    4. 3rd year of uni begins 22 September.

    Little Sister'd better get 100% in her Grade 5 Theory, or else. Gaaaah...

    Remmy says 'hi'.

    Corno is a horn

    Red heart

    Transposing instruments thing for the grade I'm doing is actually easier than it sounds. They will always tell me what key the instrument is in. For example, Corno in F.
    That means that if that horn plays a C, it means that F sounds out; Clarinet in Bb means the Bb will sound. Always below the C, except for Trumpet in D, where it goes up. Now I don't even need to remember it specifically for each instrument. Just read the question really carefully so I don't transpose it in the wrong direction. O_O

    Things to do:
    1. Make a list of musical instrument names in Italian, German and French, just in case
    2. Go to the library and get some orchestral score to study
    3. Find out the ranges of orchestral instruments required for this grade, in order to do the Composition section. AAAGH...
    4. Make a list of composers and their styles

    Right hug Zombie.

    "Learn some new words together" III: The Recoil

    Recoil? What the ----?

    This bunch is supposed to be slightly harder. :o

    attacca = go straight on to the next section
    dolente = sad, mournful
    dolore = grief (doloroso: sorrowful) (I just think of the English word "dolour")
    doppio movimento = twice as fast
    estinto = as soft as possible, lifeless XD
    incalzando = getting quicker
    lacrimoso = sad
    loco = at the normal pitch (used to cancel an 8va direction)
    lunga = long (lunga pausa: long pause)
    lusinganda = coaxing, in a sweet and persuasive style ^_^
    misura = measure (alla misura: in strict time; senza misura: in free time)
    ossia = or, alternatively
    piacevole = pleasant
    piangevole = plaintive, in the style of a lament =(
    pochettino, poch = rather little
    rinforzando, rf, rfz = reinforcing
    segue = go straight on
    smorzando, smorz. = dying away in tone and speed
    teneramente, tenerezza = tenderly, tenderness
    tosto = swift, rapid (but often used in the same sense as troppo)
    volante = flying, fast

    Strings and Brass:
    con/senza sordini (or con sord.) = with/without mutes

    Strings:
    arco = play with the bow (a direction after pizzicato)
    pizzicato = plucked
    ... damnit, I don't have the 'down' bow mark. It's like n. Anyway, V = 'up' bow.
    sul G = play on the G string
    sul ponticello = play near the bridge (not the bridge on a ship)

    Piano:
    una corda
    tre corde
    Ped *
    P___|
    mano sinistra/destra (m.s. and m.d.) (Easycakes.)

    strings: violin, viola, cello, double bass
    woodwind: flute, oboe, clarinet, bassoon
    brass: horn, trumpet, trombone, tuba
    percussion: timpani (kettledrums), side drum, bass drum, cymbals

    Yeah? Sounds easy. Which clefs then?

    treble: violin, flute, oboe, clarinet, horn (sometimes bass), trumpet;
    alto: viola (treble)
    bass: cello (treble, tenor), double bass, bassoon, trombone (tenor), tuba

    Which are transposing instruments?

    Uhhhhhhh clarinet, and... don't know!

    How would you transpose music for clarinet?

    Errrrrr, something about a major second? I ought to know because I have a clarinet. Now I feel inadequate. No! I'll revise it another day.

    I'd like to say, I love Beethoven. I'm playing piano Sonata in C minor, Opus, I think, 10. The first movement is so fast, and the second one has a few deadly arppeggio passages, but I'm enjoying it a lot. I really want to impress myself. My self-confidence loves to soar sky-high one moment and plummet the next. I think I need to see a doctor. TT_TT ...

    I also tried out 深海の孤独 sheet music that little sister printed for me at her school. It's a song sung by Stella Loussier. I still like 水の証 by Lacus Clyne better musically. (Stella so should have been a singer though! Neo's not a good father. Okay, I'm obsessed with Gundam SEED anime.)

    This is from a song I like:

    進んだ道の先 光が見つかるから
    You'll find the way.
    It means: at the taken path's end, a light will be seen.

    Sounds like death to me. I have such happy thoughts(!) ... Cheer up, cheer up. ^_^ It's a good light. Everything will be okay when it's here.

    The story of my MSN font

    Story time.

    Once upon a time there was a girl, and she started using this program called MSN Messenger 3.0. She didn't like it that there were only sixteen colours of font, and half of them unusable because they were too light, so she searched up the internet and found out that she could change her font colour from the registry by typing in the hexadecimal html code thing for that colour.

    Although her favourite colour was green, she decided to be more unique and go with magenta, and so with her Pain Shop Pro 5's colour chooser she put in "Red: 200, Green: 0, Blue:100" and it said "#C80064". Now she was different from everyone else on her list. She underlined the font too, just to emphasise.

    Many years have passed since then, and even the name MSN Messenger has changed to Windows Live Messenger, but Mir's font has not changed. It is still as stupid as it was when she was 12.

    The End.

    p.s. She no longer has the mentality of a 12-year-old. More like... a fifteen year old instead. XD

    So? I'm a youth at heart.

    Happy Hallowe'en & random thoughts of the day

    There's this word "integral", and my lecturer keeps saying "intregal"!!! I had a teacher at school many years ago who called it that too. So confusing. He even made me think that such a word existed separately. English is crazy.

    Today, I got some MSN addresses off some friends at lectures. ^^

    Recently, I've been trying to teach myself Chinese. There's a really useful Word Processor called NJStar, but I can only download a trial version. If only I had 99 spare dollars... The program is really good. It has a built-in dictionary and even an annoying (but present!) radical look-up feature.

    Celmeo said he'd visit me as soon as all his lectures finish. I'm in love with him, and I miss him so very much. I can't wait already.

    I'd wear my mage clothes today, but I'm not feeling all that good. I think I'm going to go sleep soon.

    Hallowe'en Rappy! None for me.

    金箍棒啊永闪烁 扫清天下浊
    Roughly: The Golden Cudgel (his weapon) will forever shimmer; sweeping clean the chaos in the land under heaven
    Love that song!

    Firealarm Testing at 7am isn't cool

    Nope, it's not. Then I slept in. >_>

    Sucks. I'm starving. I need to go cook some food! I bought a giant loaf of bread today from this supermarket called Sainsbury's, and some juicy apples. Think I'm going to have soup tonight.

    I cook my own meals every day. I'm getting very skilled at it, wouldn't you believe.

    I'm reading a book Cel recommended me: The Weavers of Saramyr (I keep thinking Faramir), by Chris Wooding. Now, Wooding writes really well compared to Canavan, whose story is so cliched it disappointed the hell out of me, and I'm such a big fan of magicians too if you happen to know me even one tiny bit.

    So, I'm loving it. (Not MacDonald's).
    September 18

    Where will I live?

    Dunno. Somewhere in Cardiff, eh. Quite excited and all. That's the right feeling, eh.
    August 13

    Holiday! In China!

    That's right. I'm on holiday.
    A voice inside my head: What're you doing on hoilday when you're like this?

    Hey, I can do what I want. This my world. This is my house and my place to spam with my own thoughts.
    voice: <_< (however that's going to sound like)

    Yeah! I like! I got 1301 views on my Phantasy Star Online tune I transcribed and 500 views on the b.t. piece that me and little sister performed. Yey!
    voice: I got a comment too. It said 'cute'.
    Yey!! I like playing the piano.

    Erm. I play harmonica badly. I have a tiny one. When I play a big one, I get out of breath in half a song.

    I pretend that I can play the clarinet. I got one last Christmas! I love classical music. There. Some random facts about me! The end. Maybe one day I'll be a bit better at clarinet.
    voice: Yeah right.

    Okay, I'm in Shenyang rihgt now. I live near 202 yiyuan (hospital). I like this place. Going to Taiyuan this Sunday night. Going back home on 28th. I want Cel to visit me in Taiyuan. I'm selfish. TT_TT
    July 18

    Uncertainty!

    I'm feeling sane today!

    I finished reading The Da Vinci Code yesterday. Was very moving. I watched the film with my boyfriend before I read it.

    I miss him.

    I'm going to Cardiff tomorrow by train. Need to sort something out.

    I didn't go driving today.

    My sixth driving lesson was last Thursday. I will get driving again tomorrow if the weather is less warm.

    I like FOmar Break.
    July 11

    So much for unoriginality

    9th July.

    Look, everybody has problems, but this one, she's just crazy.

    She's still alive and well. That's well.

    Well.

    She said she didn't like her dad today. How's that? It's incredibly unlike her. See, her dad was getting very depressed and worried about her and I think today he wanted to destroy her ego by bringing her to the edge of a nervous breakdown, as if she needed this wake-up call. I've been lying in her room, listening all this time. Not an argument--an overly harsh repetitive parent-child lecture. What child?

    She got pretty suicidal. "I got nearly nothing; I don't want to live anymore!! I'm going to walk out far far away." Scary. Her dad was somewhat insensitive, rattling on outside little sister's room late at night too. I felt most sorry for her, running out of her room helplessly, going, "Don't leave!"...

    Pull yourself together? I heard someone tell her to see a psychiatrist. I don't believe in those and neither does she. It's all for fun, not insanity. For example, she is perfectly clear about who I am and exactly why I exist, even though you, the reader, can only begin to guess.

    Her mum was pretty supportive this night. She sat with her and talked her out of it. Suicidal?? What. Idiots are suicidal. By the end she was convinced that at least her mother still genuinely cared about her, and her sister too. She hopes her boyfriend cares too. I know she misses him very much. They were the people she trusted most in life. Her father probably cares, he just has a destructive manner of showing it.

    Everyone has their own ways in life. She has a bit of pressure right now, but nothing she can't handle, right? She has no self-esteem. What should I do?

    I was so relieved to hear her come back upstairs.
    "Good night, Remmy. Don't be a fool like me."
    December 03

    Got a space!

    I got a blog!! AGH! I'm sad!!
    OK. I'm not Boromir. I'm not Remmy. I'm Mirinee. No, I'm not even Mirinee. You must not speak my real name, hence you do not need to know it.

    I'm collecting badges to get my broom weapon in a game called PSO!
    I'm doing linear algebra!
    I am busy today.
